I’m still not entirely sure who or what is behind this new genre that Indian Wells loves to refer to as but it’s beyond creative to layer such interesting sounds together within chilled out electronic textures. I love the crowd samples cheering, the harsh pop of the tennis ball hitting the racquet, and the clips of the announcers serving as narration.
Released through one of my favorite online labels, Bad Panda Records, the debut album Night Drops serves as an eclectic collection of ambient tracks. One with minimalist beats, real tennis match samples, and enough electronic tones to keep you listening all the way through. Plus a free download? It can’t get much better.
BONUS: and then it does.
