Rails – Bing and Ruth

I’ve needed this complete and utter calm. I’ve really, really needed this.

Cinematic pianos paint a wonderful scene in the lush acoustic track titled, “Rails” by Brooklyn-based music collective Bing and Ruth. They’re natural and the sound seems to effortlessly fall into place. To listen to the rest of the City Lake album (where this song is from) visit their bandcamp page. Also check out their “Takeaway Show” they did last year for La Blogotheque on a cold, snowy Coney Island shore.

If you dig this then catch up with what B&R’s leader, David Moore is up to as of late or check out some previous posts that feature music from a similar sounding band called Balmorhea. Be sure to right-click to download “Rails.”

Dreaming of landscapes in the rain.

These two..they’re just..words can’t…ugh. I don’t think I could conceive a good enough explanation for you all.

And then Mogwai does an interpretation? And I also include a Balmorhea remix? Today has just been getting better and better.

The people in the boat don’t understand the people in the water.

I live my life by post-it notes and I have been severely ignoring the one I left myself a couple of weeks ago about how I need to blog about all these great songs.  Well, why don’t I just pool them altogether so I don’t feel even more guilty about not sharing them.

People In The Hole – Catherine Feeny little bluesy, little Sheryl Crow-esque.. I dig it.  I used to recommend this song to people and tell them it explained life.  I love this song.

Night and Day – Chief This is a sad song.  The lyrics are dripping with desperation of escape.  I love the chorus.

Clamor – Balmorhea An Austin-based instrumental band who I dearly love and admire.  Who the hell just sticks with instrumentals anymore right?  I can always count on this solid, solid band.  Enjoy the newest and most raved about.

Ancestral Lands – The Townhouses More instrumentals? Yes, please.  A little bit of island vibes flowing through this one and also some instruments I wouldn’t necessarily pair together but it does work.

Days Ahead – Museum of Bellas Artes I’m going to be honest with you guys..not a responsible blogger move, but I don’t know shit about these girls but the music they output is fantastic.  It’s all over the place and I’m totally feeling it.  Vintage, island beats with laid back vocals…only thing they’re missing is some lo-fi (ha…..).

One in a Million Does – Hancock Basement Just throwing you guys a fun song from a fun pop-rock Australian band trying to make it in this ol’ industry.

BONUS:   You Sleep Alone – Hellogoodbye I uploaded this song solely to dedicate to Vlad..I know you miss those “Dear Jamie” days…now they actually came out with something new.

Enjoy per usual (as I like to believe..).
