You Never Close Your Lips When I Kiss Your Eyes

I LOVE Clive Tanaka y Su Orchestra’s debut tape Jet Set Siempre No.1. It’s still one of my favorite albums. Right after my very first listen of “Neu Chicago” last year, I immediately ordered the entire thing from Clive’s label imprint Tall Corn Music, which at the time was only available on tape (side note: this also sparked my infatuation with buying tapes).

Since then I’ve tried to stay up on Clive y his cohorts endeavors. Yet I somehow managed to miss out on la Orquesta miembro beaunoise’s second release “Beeptunes,” which was created entirely using analog synthesizers and drum machines as well as traditional (linear) methods and techniques, which is pretty damn cool.

That being said, beaunoise recently released a new project titled “You Never Close Your Lips When I Kiss Your Eyes.” This thing is, well, fucking bizarre.

The semi-hilarious description given on the album’s bandcamp is as follows:

Samples, remixes, collage, deconstruction, noise breaks, distortion, phone calls, profanity, adult content, pornography, violence, and other generally objectionable audio recordings of questionable taste and dubious social merit.

Listener discretion is advised.

This thing is wild but I’d suggest checking at least some of it if you can handle it. I’m going to post the whole thing here, but I’ll give a few suggested songs and if you like those, check out the rest!

Mix For Carrot Creative 2.0

Yep. I’m at it again.

About two weeks ago I applied for a position with Brooklyn, NY based full service social media agency Carrot Creative. I created a fancy mix for them with cute and witty cover art but sadly, I got turned down :( BUT! I did at least get their attention and I am not giving up just yet. They posted up a new job opportunity as a “Community Manager” and I’m shooting for it.

HEY CARROTS I’M CALLING YOU OUT ! (again)

Hire me! Or At least give me an opportunity to talk to you guys! I think my fellow What’s Protocol-ers (and many other people) can vouch that I’m a good dude, a hard worker, personable, rad, hip, cool… I swear!

Something Neu

Last night I found the greatest song ever. (okay maybe not ever)

But how great is it? Great enough for me to buy the guy’s album….ON CASSETTE without even hearing an entire song. I’ll admit that it being about 5:00 in the morning may have had something to do with my eager purchase, but also it was only 6 bucks AND it’s fantastic.

The song starts out with a little retro disco groove and when that little beachy ( kind of reminds me of the String Cheese Incident) guitar riff comes in…oh God, forget about it. The whole song just grooves, from the steel drums, the synth lines, everything. I even love the catchy simple lyrics.

Do yourself (or I guess myself) a favor and give this little gem a listen. Hopefully when the tape comes in the mail I’ll be able to see how the rest of the album is…once I track down a cassette player.

Give it a listen:
