Where have these Chileans been hiding? Loud beats and fabulous rhythm, I absolutely am loving on Astro at the moment.
These electro-rockers will win your heart with their playful and dynamic energy. Central and South America sure ate them up with their first EP release, Le Disc De Astrou, they released back in 2009. Forming almost as an accident, these guys stuck together and have only enhanced their sound to date. Grab a couple of tracks from their self-titled sophomore effort below and keep an eye on these guys, it’s summer tour season.

I heard of the synth-pop group called FM Belfast awhile back when I caught wind of their tracks “Underwear” and “Par Avion.” I always thought they were a bit odd but they produced some catchy songs.
But you know what? They really grew on me. These Icelander’s organic debut remind me much of Brazil’s CSS the way they carry themselves with the same experimental confidence. The group ranges in size with a few static members but that doesn’t hold back their highly-energetic nature. Although having extreme success with their debut, How To Make Friends, I feel as if their sound is lost on most people. Their 2011 response, Don’t Want To Sleep, is chock-full of heavy electro-pop that immediately gets your limbs moving.

Don’t think I forgot to mention on this blog how amazing CSS were last Friday (10/21). I just needed some time to formulate my words on the entire evening.
Now, I never had the chance to eat at the Spaghetti Warehouse (I heard their meatballs were huge though) but recently the R5 boys put the nail in that coffin and turned it into an old-timey bar/music venue called Union Transfer. It’s taken me awhile to get down there but I was thoroughly impressed. These guys are true music lovers and the layout of the entire building is incredible, they knew exactly what they wanted. I mean it’s obvious, right down to the toilet paper roll placement because I pay attention to these things (it’s on the inside door, convenient!!). Continue reading →
Guess what? I’ve got some new music from the crazy Brazilians, Cansei de Ser Sexy, also known as CSS.
Not ringing a bell? How about this song…
CSS is coming back at us with the dance-rock we’re used to, taking a break from their more alternative sound in 2008′s Donkey.
I sure missed Lovefoxxx and that distinct voice of hers. Thankfully, CSS is dropping their third studio album, La Liberacíon, this August. Have a listen to their newest single, “Hits Me Like a Rock.” I promise you’ll be stuck with this one on loop.
Coachella is in my horizon line..well technically, I’ll be up even before the sun to get myself down to the airport in Baltimore on time. It’s surreal that this day has finally come. With days, weeks, and months of huge anticipation, it’s here. It’s fucking here.
As much as I’d like to take a step back and be completely AWOL in terms of technology and electronics..I know I’ll probably sneak a few tweets here and there. But, for the most part I will be completely away from this blog, facebook, you name it – which is actually a bit exciting to think about.
I’m leaving you all with some more music in prep for the festival before I depart. As always, right-click and enjoy.
