If you’re based in the 215 then you certainly understand the underground street art culture that’s deeply rooted within this city. And if you’re a fan, you definitely have heard of Get Up.
A Philly native, Get Up’s work can be seen inside the Electric Factory, along Columbus Blvd., under the El, on hoodies and stickers, or even inside office spaces. This guy is hard at work leaving his stamp all over this city while many of us are asleep at night.
While you’re getting familiar with his wide range of art, tap into his sounds, all wonderful and diverse and better yet; surely to get you moving just in time for the weekend.
My recent Sunday Listening posts have been centered on albums, giving you all a good bit to listen to. A little something something that’s nice to have in the background. This week I’m doing things differently.
I’ve curated a soulful collection of tracks, some that will take your ears back decades. Old school organs, hints of jazz and a touch of dub, listen to a handful of songs created by artists from all around the globe.
You’re The Kind Of Girl – Lee Fields & The Expressions
I Need Your Company – Michael Kiwanuka
Cry ft. Horseman – Hollie Cook
They Don’t Want – Electric Wire Hustle
Shining – Gas-Lab
Right-click and enjoy.
Hate to break it to you folks but I’m not the type of girl who waits all year long for the radio to finally start playing Christmas songs 24/7. I at least like to wait until December but a friend of mine sent me a slew of Christmas dubstep and it got me wanting to create a Holiday round-up.
Check out some wonky beats, low frequencies, and club remixes that will surely get you out of your seat and ready to throw down with some spiked eggnog ASAP.
Last Christmas - Wham! (Nudge Nudge Nudge Electro Remix)
