While listening to old calypso and Hawaiin records I got from my grandparents basement with Lindsey, we decided that it would be cool to put together a mixtape consisting of some of those songs as well as some original creations made from samples of those records. We figured it would be sweet to have those laid back and forgotten tunes meshed together for easy listening on the beach, since summer is approaching. I listened to all of the records that I had in this genre for a while and started picking out the songs and decided that the tape should be limited to 20 minutes since that’s the maximum amount of time you should spend with one side of your body exposed to the sun. The tape could have easily lasted an hour and a half since I lucked into so much good and obscure music. I included selections from the Caribbean Torpedoes, Harry Belafonte, J.D. Nicholas(Weekend at Bernie’s II soundtrack), the Hawaii Calls, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. There are also a few weird things I did thrown in there, not much though. I included an alarm at the end of the track with an English woman’s voice reminding you to turn over so you don’t get a sunburn. Hopefully you enjoy the mix and are able to put it to good use this summer.
My apologies to African Americans, albinos, and gingers as you probably won’t have much use for this tape. I’ll start working on something that incorporates you guys.
Everyone knows that most bros are looking for sweet chicks while they’re down the shore, so I have a song that’s perfect for night time at the beach. Love Making Mood by the Caribbean Torpedoes is sure to convince your girl to have buckets of fun with you in the sand. Just remember, it’s a no rubber summer and Plan B is plan A. Enjoy.
