Movember: Magnum P.I. Status

I call this version of my moustache the "Magnum P.I.". Shoutout to Tom Selleck

Lindsey alerted me of the existence of something called “Movember” about a month or so ago. I read up on it and it sounds awesome. If you can grow a moustache, you grow one, and people sponsor the ‘stache with proceeds going to prostate cancer research.

I decided that I should participate and incorporate What’s Protocol? into the whole thing. Every week I will be giving a “State of the ‘Stache” Address, either by a photo or even a possible Vlog post.

I’m not completely following the rules of the contest as I was supposed to start off clean shaven. I like to be creative however, so I don’t think anyone benefitting from this will complain. I’ve decided that I will slightly alter the style of the ‘stache week by week, thus constituting the “State of the ‘Stache” Address.

I’ve also decided that each progression of the moustache deserves it’s own theme song. In it’s current state I would say my moustache is at Magnum P.I. length so the original theme song I composed this week has a 1980′s feel to it. I could definitely be on a cop show in the 80′s with this look. Enjoy the theme song and donate to the cause here!

(GrmnyGrmny+GoldenRetriever)xMustache=German Shepherd?

This past Sunday Germany Germany released his album Adventures over at his bandcamp page.If you haven’t bought it yet, do so now and then continue to read this post. While I was on his main site I saw that he had released stems for his song “Reflections” in case anyone wanted to remix it. I figured I’d take a crack at it so I downloaded them and got to work. The following is an in depth look at the creative and technical processes involved.

When I first started working on the remix I had a really nice mustache going and I felt good. I was designing timbres on my miniKorg and had set up a nice drum sequence. My mom kept trying to convince me to shave the ‘stache and she’d tell me that it looked horrible. All the bros at my gym felt otherwise, and when it comes down to it guys with big muscles know more than moms do when it comes to cool facial hair.

I suffered a serious setback after designing some of the timbres and getting the bass line recorded. While trimming, I accidentally pressed to hard and screwed up the mustache. I’m convinced it occurred because my mom was subconsciously hoping that it would happen and kept sending negative energy at me. Moms can be a bitch like that sometimes.

Rick Rude had a mustache and he was RAVISHING!!!!!

I was not to be deterred, however, and I got right back to work. After a few days I had another solid ‘stache going. Also, I had finished the remix. I sent it off to Lindsey to listen and she liked it so she sent it directly to Germany Germany himself. I got lucky and he ended up liking it, too. He even said he’d consider including it on a remix EP.

In conclusion I would like to list a few guys who have had great mustaches: Ravishing Rick Rude, Burt Reynolds, Magnum P.I., Larry Bird, Freddy Mercury in the 80s, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Albert Einstein, MLK Jr., Hulk Hogan, and the greatest man in the history of the world to have a mustache, Bernie Lomax.
