Oberhofer’s known for those loud, almost shouting vocals, the raucous guitars, filled to the brim with that garage-rock styled energy. But what he dropped yesterday was a complete 180, and I absolutely loved it.
A worn-sounding piano, vocals that seem to simply drift along, and plenty of tape-hiss to fill it all out. It’s delicate yet firm. And simply perfect for a dreary day like here in Philadelphia today.
BONUS: Also get to listening to another new release, Daily Meditation. True to its name, it’s quite peaceful.

Ah lo-fi, you always win me over. Jangly riffs, crunchy guitars and those great loud/soft vocals just really do it for me.
In celebration of The N’ere Dowells releasing their forthcoming LP, check out their latest single, “I Won’t.” It’s got a perfect sunny vibe for these longer and slightly warmer days. I’m excited for these Brooklyn boys to get a full length out there and their newest single proves once again that they’re here to stay.
I’m hearing a lot of Oberhofer in this one, and I absolutely love it.

It’s that time of year again. You know, when I’m counting down the days ’til Coachella. Just like last year I’ll be referencing the musicians I’m most excited to see while simultaneously giving you all some free downloads. It’s special.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Oberhofer on the lineup and it’s fantastic he’s methodically built his music up to where it is at this point. Ever since I heard his track, “o0O0o0O0o,” I was sold. Immediately sold. It was also one of the very first music posts I did a couple years back for a record label, oh the beginnings.
Anyways, this talented kid is slated to release his debut record Time Capsules II on March 27th which will have some of our old favorites as well as the new track, “HEART,” as well as collection of other new jams. I’m excited for this full ten-track album and the direction he’s taking, incorporating a lot more production and diversity of instruments (hear those pounding and scaling piano keys).
“Music is this thing I just inherently do and psychologically, I have a desire to make as many people happy as possible. Music helps you think about stuff, it helps you feel, you know?”
