[Remember] Le Daniel San – Mexico

Every so often I explore the hell out of one particular yet random country. A few months ago I set my sights on our southern neighbor, Mexico, and became enamored by the experimental nature of Le Daniel San.

After my research fell flat due to the fact that their record label, Sir Francis Records, and all things related to it went inactive I figured Le Daniel San was done as well. It was a great surprise when a couple of months later the artist’s girlfriend messaged me on tumblr all sorts of excited on my discovery and feature of their music.

Long story short, SFR has gone kaput but, Liz and her beau Eduardo Diaz (Le Daniel San) created a new indie-pop label called Two Carnations Records. With a label to distribute the music they love, the two also have a fanzine called Kill People You Like! Check out their main website for more info and get in on the cause – they need monetary help to distribute their 2nd issue and also a 7”!

Don’t miss their recently released compilation from various international artists  just waiting to be heard, you’ll surely enjoy.

Good Morning – Le Daniel San

I love the slow, psychedelic music that Le Daniel San seems to effortlessly produce. With broken links to his label’s official site, and a Facebook page that hasn’t been used since February, we’re mostly left to our own devices to figure out who exactly is this experimentalist.

Track, “What do you want from me,” has haunting samples and droning vocals that lay in the background with repetitive drum loops and chimes. I really enjoy the mystery that surrounds this artist and their music.

Sir Francis Records may be buried somewhere in the Mexican music scene at this point, but you can check out the rest of their short-lived releases here. There’s definitely a couple of gems just waiting to be heard.
