Traditionals – Blocktreat

This is unlike any beat-making you’ve heard in awhile, trust me.

Blocktreat, Jellyfish Recording’s latest release, mixes and matches many different traditional instruments in a not so traditional world. Some of his tracks slow down and feel more organic, especially in their structure but then the Vancouver musician layers a beat underneath and flips the entire track upside down. What I like most in his album, Traditionals, is his sense of control. Plain and simple.

Lastly, a near perfect description from the bandcamp page:

Like a collage of blurry photos from a summer road trip with friends, Traditionals is a soothing microcosm of earthy, down-tempo goodness.

Enjoy.
