A fabulous homage to the analog camera. I absolutely love the vintage look of 35mm and for Vacationer’s first official music video, the band captures the wonderful essence of Hawaii for their track, “Trip.”
I really have come to love the jazzy instrumentals that Mecca:83 and his international crew come out with on the regular. They’re vintage and fresh all rolled into one, he boasts one talented group of artists.
His label FreeForm Records has undergone a facelift with a new message under the name Expansions Collective. Just a reorganization for image sake, I believe these guys were already operating as a passionate collective to begin with. Anyways, check out Mecca:83′s latest mix, Summer Jams, which takes our ears on a journey through his extensive record collection. It’s perfect for this break of our extreme heat lately. Sit back and enjoy, download the entire mix here.

If you’ve been a reader of the blog for awhile, you may have picked up on the fact that I’m from Maryland. And I love that god damn state. Philadelphia suits me, and I have had a great time living there for years after college but Maryland, that’s my home.
It’s safe to say I’m pretty excited to be working here this weekend, I even made a long trip out of it so I could see friends and family. So, it’s perfect timing that Chelsea got up another Etsy treasury before our trip south of the Mason Dixon line. Check out her hand-picked curation, I now have crabs and beer on my mind.
After sampling the song “If You Want It” and creating such a cohesive track with it, I was immediately a fan. They’ve got witty lyricism, solid pop fundamentals, and smooth beat production. Really, they could do no wrong with their distinct SoCal sound.
Earlier this month the group released their mixtape entitled, The Wild, The Innocent, The TV Shuffle with the support of Greedhead Records. Grab one of my favorite tracks and download the rest of the album here.
I will not apologize for unloading this amazing Billie Holiday inspired tape on you all. Yes, that’s a fresh blend of 1930′s noir and modern hip-hop beats you hear thumping in your ears. The samples of Holiday really make her voice come alive in the present tense, you honestly just need to spin this album completely through (and a couple more times for good measure).
Check out L’Orange and his fabulous work done on Old Soul. Trust me, you will not be disappointed, it’s robbery that this thing is free.
