We’re just having fun, we don’t care who sees.

Where do I start?

It feels like almost a relief to be back on the East Coast, only because I’m willing to admit that I probably could not handle another day of Coachella. It’s a beast of a wild time. This year we were able to expand our camping group to 20+ different people and there’s no telling what next year will be like.

If you haven’t noticed, the festival scene has exploded as of late. I can’t turn my head around without hearing of a new event packed with a slew of artists waiting to wow you. Each one is entirely different from the next, varying in genres, tiers of artists, camping vs. non-camping; these things have seriously evolved. This is where the music industry is going.

During the phenomenal Radiohead set on Saturday night Thom Yorke said it best, music is about being together and the sense of community we have at these things. To me music is extremely personal, it performs as the soundtrack to my life, a constant ebb and flow. But being in the middle of a sea of tens of thousands of people all consumed by the lights, synths, and strong percussion; it really felt like something else.

As Coachella is one of the only places I will completely keep my phone off and separated for days at a time, I won’t be giving you the minute-by-minute timeline of what I was doing. I will give you some insight on who I saw after 3pm those days though, and trust me, that heat was brutal in the campgrounds before the sun went down. Continue reading

Meet Zeds Dead.

There’s gotta be some of you guys out there who like to get straight weird to some music every now and then.

So, meet Zeds Dead who are controlled chaos for your ears and cognitive systems.  Good god do I enjoy their searing take on dubstep.  DC and Hooks serve up a healthy dose of club beats and crazy samples over wonky bass that feeds on the bottommost frequencies.

This DJ duo shares our same passion and appreciation of digging through crates of obscure records searching for interesting hip-hop samples or funk breaks, disco classics, etc.  These two have a wide-eyed look on the music scene and will draw samples from Radiohead to Sublime able to create something extremely unique and ready to hit the dance floor immediately. These hardworking guys crank out remixes and original tracks on the regular so you’ve always got to keep an ear out. They’re currently on a nation-wide tour, check them dates out.

Songs for your weekend mood.

The month of May has been like a drunk spring awakening (sorry mom and dad) and I desperately need this weekend to rest (coincidentally I work).  So, I’m not going to inquire what you kids are doing this weekend because I frankly would not like to know.

I can only see a soft comfortable bed in my foreseeable future..and I suppose work.

But, for those of you who need a nice smooth beat as an undercurrent for your weekend moods…well here ya go then.

Is You (Le Castle Vania Remix) – D.I.M.

The Human Condition – Jhameel Remember when I posted this remix..mhm lovin’ on this strangeness.

Titan – Joywave I couldn’t resist, there’s some good shit on this mixtape!
