Introducing, Summer Fiction. I honestly didn’t know this guy (the talented Bill Ricchini) was from Philadelphia! And, I’m also very disappointed I missed him last month at Johnny Brenda’s. There’s always next time.
Perfectly executed baroque-pop paired with some great lyrics, this guy has got it all right.
Summer Fiction’s self-titled debut record contains songs that “were written to flow into one another and feel of a certain whole piece of work, ranging stylistically from late 60s baroque pop to torch songs to folk rock ballads to old time waltzes to country duets. The album loosely follows a young girl’s coming of age but reads like the journal entries of the guys who fall for her (last.fm).”
I’ve got two songs for you all to listen to, both have been staples on some of my past playlists. “Chandeliers” will get you hooked on the pop sound while “Throw Your Arms Around Me” will touch your little folk-loving heart. Show some love over at Mr.Shuffleupagus while you’re at it..a couple days back when I was writing this post she pretty much beat me to it and wrote everything I wanted to say! Solid taste over there check it out.
Currently on the news front is that they’re planning to split a single with pop band, Chalk and Numbers. Bill Ricchini is making moves..keep an eye out, Summer Fiction is getting big and people are talking.
