Back on the Juice

An illustration of Illustrate. Hiyoooooooo!!!!!

Check out this Jewish MC. That sounds like a joke, but it isn’t, but it is. Illustrate released his debut album back in June and I have been oblivious to it until now. Luckily I stumbled upon it tonight and gave it a listen. Illustrate has a pretty tight flow and the beats have a nice old school/underground vibe to them. Lyrically you can see that Illustrate does not take himself too seriously, but he lets us know that we should. Check out these tracks from his album and if you like what you hear then head on over to his site and grab the whole album for free.

The Look This one is a journey in the day of the nightlife of Illustrate, or at least the character that Illustrate is portraying in this song. Nice sample and tight drums drive the beat.

Take ‘Em Down Feat. Fresh Daily  Love this beat, it brings the term digital funk to mind. Both Illustrate and Fresh Daily spit hot fire in addition to the dope beat so it’s a winner all around.

The Joke In this one Illustrate addresses the problem he faces in not being taken seriously as an MC. Despite his sense of humor throughout the rest of the album he shouldn’t be written off as just a goofy Jewish kid with a rap album. He has legitimate mic skills and uses this track to pound that point home.
