You never told me I was pretty, you just drove the wrong way home.
I really, really can’t turn this song off. “Giant Hands” by Michigan’s Dog & Panther is light and playful sounding but the lyrical ambivalence is what really took a hold of me upon first listen.
The line, “we will never be friends” is quite a bold statement and makes me wonder who the song is about. I love all of the minute details like the background vocals, the FM static and the mix of acoustic music and electronic drum kits. It’s a song of push and pull reverting to the line, “don’t give up on me.” It’s terribly conflicting and that’s what makes it a winner in my book.
