Heads Up Philadelphia: Jon Sandler Tonight at The Legendary Dobbs

If you’ve ever lived in a city, then you may understand the fragile nature of a music venue. Not only do they usually have to compete as a bar/restaurant, but they need to fit in with the neighborhood, be relatively easy to get to, but most importantly, be something different that fills in a particular void.

Living in Philadelphia, I’ve discovered venues of all shapes and sizes, some as art studios, some as coffee shops, and some as fabulous restaurant/bars. In one of the country’s oldest cities, The Legendary Dobbs has newly been resurrected from its historic counterpart, JC Dobbs, a venue that’s seen the likes of Green Day, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Bo Diddley, The Smashing Pumpkins, Soul Asylum, Rage Against The Machine, The Offspring, and many more.

Tonight, New York’s very own Jon Sandler will be taking the stage showcasing his fiery and soulful voice, passionate energy, and conscientious wordplay. Coming off of his latest album release, Late Night Champ, Sandler presents a tightly produced package that boasts his talent for creating extremely catchy pop songs. I’m almost reminded of Rob Thomas but there’s a bite more diversity and lightness to Sandler’s music that puts him on his own.
