Shine.

What an eventful weekend.

Mine was filled with lots of drinking in the woods, shooting 12 gauge shotguns, brief encounters in the Inner Harbor, and watching my home team lose in our own house against the Virginia Cavaliers.  Too bad recovery-mode doesn’t start for me until after work tonight..

Anyways, no, this song isn’t the absolute newest but this video sure is.

This gem arrived in my inbox last week and no better day then to post it on this hot, sweltering Tuesday.   I am definitely digging the old school clips which were taken from the Prelinger Archive – basically a huge database of “ephemeral” films available to the public (neat!).

Nice work Breakfast in Fur.

Shine – Breakfast in Fur

Right-click and enjoy.

Another dose..

Today I will be supplementing your ears with some female-dominated tracks I’ve been listening to.

First up..

Shine – Breakfast in Fur

Ok, this band originally began as this guy Dan Wolfe’s bedroom project but within the past year the band grew into a 6-piece psychedelic, folk-rock outfit.  I like the addition of the mixed vocals with Kaitlin Van Pelt.  Adds a real softness to the already fuzzy sound they have.  I really like it.  The song may get a bit repetitive towards the end but I really am digging the first minute of it

Violet Eyes – My Gold Mask

I know this is a duo kinda collaboration but this girl is fucking awesome.  I’m really into songs that interest my ears, songs that use sounds differently.  The percussion is great and it’s all done by Gretta Rochelle, those female vocals you’re listening to.  It’s rough, the guitar gives the track an edge.  They’re definitely blazing their own trail and I like it.

Gas Mask – RatTail

Not too much out there on this band..yet.  I knew I’d love them when I immediately heard their lo-fi sound and once the vocals came in…sold.  I just like the lyrics, the simple guitar riff..this song is good.

And I’m off to work!
