The day was turning older.

The title of song, “In A Wyoming Blizzard” doesn’t conjure up the sort of imagery I’m allowing welcome at this time of year but I do have to say it’s quite the expansive indie-rock track from The Cadets.

From being part of an album that was a 5-year piece in the making, it’s almost refreshing against today’s music landscape of mostly electronic production. I dig the wailing vocals, guitar work, and constant breakdowns that keep me wondering how this song will play out. Can’t help but love a band that Emperor X has been a part of throughout its long history and something they describe as ”an audio representation of friendship.”

Grab their album, On The Death Of Science As A Major World Religion, for free over at their bandcamp and right-click below.

Bay Window Sessions – Teaser

Here’s a little teaser with some of the footage our friend Drew from RGB Video Productions shot during our first Bay Window Sessions show. Check out Dominic Angelella of DRGN KING as he soundchecks with the song “Holy Ghost.” There’s a cool shot of Lindsey’s dog, Fred, as well. We have the actual live performances coming to you soon.

(Not Shown: Emperor X, who also performed and blew everyone away)

BONUS: DRGN KING also just released “Barbarians,” which you can check out below.

Meet: Emperor X

Emperor XA musician who makes going against the grain look like an easy feat, Chad Matheny conjures up experimental indie pop with his traveling project Emperor X.

Often times playing live at almost any location at hand, it’s Matheny and his acoustic guitar with a simple mic setup singing songs that range on all sorts of subjects, current events, etc. that are somehow yet, intelligently tied together. He tours the country endlessly via Greyhound bus and public transportation making pit stops at venues among whatever location upon request (all of which you can read about on his blog here).

Matheny’s a guy who thinks outside the box which is apparent in his other projects besides this year’s release of Western Teleport. Take for example his geo-caching-esque marketing where he would bury his cassettes, logging the GPS coordinates so listeners and fans could find his physical music which caught the attention of NPR’s Weekend Edition. There’s no shortage of ideas for this musician which is something largely underrated and under-appreciated in the industry.

Emperor X will be joined by Dominic of Philadelphia’s DRGN King for a night of live acoustic music right here in my living room. Space is limited, so please shoot over an email to whatsprotocol[at]gmail.com if you’re interested in attending.
