[Meet] A Quiet State

a quiet state

This is all my ears need at the very moment. Melodies that trail on, minimal layers of instrumentation, and glassed over vocals. Meet Luxembourg’s A Quiet State.

A simple, anonymous bedroom project that straddles the line of ambient electronic music and post-rock, looping instrumentals – I really enjoy the diversity and exploration that’s apparent in his upcoming album, Bear.  Listen to a couple of tracks he’s released so far and mark your calendars for the March 1st debut. Enjoy.

[Meet] Love Echo

This year, a new electronic duo has been slowly cultivating an audience with their

smooth and eloquent downtempo sound. Love Echo displays hints of European-styled beat making underneath searing synths and female vocal samples. Everything about the production quality is just done absolutely right.

Otherwise known as Vic Miranda and Vicki Glass, the two have been teasing our ears with only a minimal amount of releases. Not quite the disappointment when you give their tracks a listen, especially with their fantastic cover of The Cure’s track, “Lovecats.” Check out the sampling below and be sure to keep these two on your radar.

Also make sure you grab the Winter mixtape below. Who cares if it’s from last year, it’s still sonic gold.

Enjoy.

Inbox Submission: Pevin Kinel

Got a nice and straight-to-the-point email from Pevin Kinel, a European multi-instrumentalist who’s got a fun experimental nature about his music.

Recently he sent over the track, “Dusty,” from his upcoming album, Syntactic Sugars, due out this spring. Playing a majority of the song himself (with the exception of the embedded sampling he threw in the middle of the mix), Pevin Kinel shows off nice breakdowns focusing on each individual instrument. It took me a couple of times to really get into the song but it’s definitely worth the listen.

In this electronic piece we’re not getting clobbered with bass-heavy house beats nor are we getting lost in wonky synths. KP is playing up his strengths and gifting us with a continuous four minute easygoing flow. I dig it.

Since the site is still acting a bit weird, stream the track below. Though, make sure to check his official site out, he’s quite the amusing character.

Thanks for the patience, we’ll be back to normal soon enough.

Songs For Your Weekend Moods: Perseus Edition

It’s been a minute since I’ve thrown up a weekend moods post.

Perseus dropped the Russian Girlfriends EP last month and it’s perfectly executed tracks of samples thick with electronic textures with just enough glitch to keep your attention and your body moving. Simply put, it’s music that’s sexy as hell. My favorite, “Running Back To You.”
