Stop writing songs about me, I’m not to be taken literally.

Simple jangly guitar riffs and lo-fi vocals really get me.

Created as a side-project by Michael Coomers, lead-singer of Harlem, I actually really enjoy the subtle difference. Stripped down with easier melodies, Lace Curtainshas more of Real Estate vibe with those distinct vocals of Coomers.

Listen to one of my favorite tracks, “High Fantasy,” below and be sure to listen to the rest of their August release, The Garden of Joy and the Well of Loneliness on iTunes.

Bath Salt

This is mean and evil. A$AP !!!!!!!!!!!! Weird, I actually saw Flatbush Zombies a few months ago in NYC when they opened for Slaughterhouse. The crowd really heckled the guys and basically booed them offstage. I wasn’t too crazy about them at the time but opening up a rap show to a restless crowd that’s been told the group they came to see “will be right out” (for about 45 minuets) is not the easiest thing to do.

I gave Thug Waffle a few more listens and it’s actually pretty good as well. Real ruuurl raw. Check out the video below:

37 days.

One of the many reasons why I fucking love Coachella.

Azealia Banks is one bad ass female..and this is just the beginning. Think of an underground Nicki Minaj with slicker beats and samples, though, that wouldn’t even come close to this 20-year old’s talent. She’s got some incredibly raw lyrics, ridiculous and versatile flow, singing her own hooks and rapping the verses.

All I know is that shit will erupt when she begins to spit the opening lines for “212.” Check out a slew of her singles below and just wait for the debut album, she’s going to be hitting the charts hard before you even know it.

I Miss the Summer Already

I’ve been listening to ASAP Rocky’s latest mixtape over the past couple of days and it’s been making me miss the summer. The slow laid back tempo of much of the album reminds me of the hazy days of summer where you enjoy the weather but you don’t feel much like moving. The song “Trilla” is probably the best example of this.

If I were to put a visual to the guitar sample used it would be the illusion that happens on roads when the sun beats down on them with a fury. You know, the one that makes the roads look wet? Either that or when everything seems a little wavy because the ground is so hot. When I listen to this song I want nothing more than to be sitting in a kiddie pool in the backyard of a beach house with all of my friends. Check out the track below to see what I mean, and if you want the rest of the mixtape go here.

Behind the Scenes with Chaz Van Queen

I was lucky enough to be on hand at the filming of the music video for Chaz Van Queen’s song “Do U Like It?” on which Kool A.D. of Das Racist is featured. It was a lot of fun and our friends from RGB Video Productions did a bang up job. Expect the official video to drop soon, but in the meantime check out this highlight reel of behind the scenes footage cut to Chaz’s song VanRandom . For more on Chaz (including an entire free album) check out www.chazvanqueen.com and also hit up www.dasracist.net to check out what Kool A.D. is up to.

Bonus: Since this is only a highlight reel, might as well give you a legitimate music video to watch. Check out Das Racist’s video for their song “Michael Jackson”. I’ll include the video for “Black or White” by Michael Jackson so you get all the references.
