A feel good banger, “Visions of You,” is a fantastic uptempo track from electronic duo, ROOM8, who’ve got that classic 80′s synth style down and perfected. They’re bringing back a generation of sound in a tasteful new way, collaborating with artists such as Electric Youth- known for their hit “College” that was behind the Ryan Gosling film, Drive.
Also catch their polished track, “Neon and Dice,” below. Bonus points: Anyone recognize that sax?

It feels like almost a relief to be back on the East Coast, only because I’m willing to admit that I probably could not handle another day of Coachella. It’s a beast of a wild time. This year we were able to expand our camping group to 20+ different people and there’s no telling what next year will be like.
If you haven’t noticed, the festival scene has exploded as of late. I can’t turn my head around without hearing of a new event packed with a slew of artists waiting to wow you. Each one is entirely different from the next, varying in genres, tiers of artists, camping vs. non-camping; these things have seriously evolved. This is where the music industry is going.
During the phenomenal Radiohead set on Saturday night Thom Yorke said it best, music is about being together and the sense of community we have at these things. To me music is extremely personal, it performs as the soundtrack to my life, a constant ebb and flow. But being in the middle of a sea of tens of thousands of people all consumed by the lights, synths, and strong percussion; it really felt like something else.
As Coachella is one of the only places I will completely keep my phone off and separated for days at a time, I won’t be giving you the minute-by-minute timeline of what I was doing. I will give you some insight on who I saw after 3pm those days though, and trust me, that heat was brutal in the campgrounds before the sun went down. Continue reading →
From the opening synths I knew the song, “Capsize” was going to be one hell of a haunting track. The bass and vocals enter and the tone is immediately set.
There’s something pulling about thisBig Black Delta track. Perhaps it’s the searing guitars and crunchy synthesizers, the 80′s influence and anthemic nature. I love the slow, menacing build up and the drawl of Jonathan Bates. Off of Bbdlp1, “Capsize” pushes out industrial sounding electronic music that’s full of grit.
Take more of a look inside Bates’ solo project here. Right-click and enjoy.
…Since the beginning of time, I have been searching for a job. A real job, a good, fulfilling, enjoyable, meaningful job that I can call a real career. Maybe it’s a pipe dream, but I have convinced myself that I am going to find a job that I’m going to completely love. One of those “not your ordinary workplace” type of jobs in a cool environment with smart, funny, progressive thinking, coworkers working together to create, market, produce, advertise, cook, bake, build, make, design…whatever it is that they do.
I’ve come across a few of these companies/businesses in my search but it wasn’t until about a week ago that I found out that Carrot Creative was hiring. This Brooklyn, NY based full service social media agency exudes all of the qualities of the type of company I dream of working for. Progressive, different, Smart, with enjoyable atmosphere. You know “hip” and “cool”. Well, I’m hip(?), I’m cool (?), (right?).
Since they are quite progressive and forward thinking, their hiring process is quite different from your average “send us your resume and cover letter and if you happen to know somebody who works here maybe we’ll get back to you” type of business. Right on their website they say they get lots of applications, and if you want to “stand out from all the noise, figure out how to get our attention”.
So Carrot Creative. That’s what I’m doing. I’m calling you out!
