Late Night: Prodigal Summer – Snow In Mexico

Dreamy indietronica is always a solid find in my book, which leads me to wonder why it’s taken this long for me to discover Snow In Mexico. The duo from Rome create that sort of ethereal shoegaze music that you all know I can’t get enough of.

In their latest EP, Prodigal Summer, each track stands on its own providing your ears with a complex mix of sounds and emotion. Their second track, “4 Days,” feels harder and more post-rock than the rest, atmospheric even. Last song, “Code Playground,” takes awhile to unfold, but becomes an encompassing electronic track that’s subtle yet aurally stimulating.

I like the jump from each song, there’s plenty of different things to listen for. Check out the entire EP below, enjoy.

You’re in my every thought and I don’t want to stop.

The oscillating tones give way to quite the dramatic introduction for song, “Home Video,” with the delicate guitar looping around the tightly laced electronica. It’s intensely fitting for this track to be backed with visual nostalgia.

In Observer Drift’s latest video, he pulls clips from his personal home videos that feature his childhood and many different family members. It’s a raw look into his upbringing and the world he grew up in yet, something so relatable within us all.

メガネ! メガネ! – Sterile Cuckoo

I absolutely love the nature inspired soundscape undearneath the glazed over synths in Sterile Cuckoo’s track, “Of Spring And Efforts.” That’s all it really took for me to have to start poking around his other sites.

And as I was listening to his music, thinking of ways to describe it, I smiled while looking at his interests on Facebook. Craft Spells, Summer Heart, Youth Lagoon, Balam Acab, Wild Nothing, Explosions in the Sky…I love his taste, and I think it seeps to the core of his very own music yet, he till finds an original spin on such an evolving genre. Check out Sterile Cuckoo’s album, メガネ！メガネ！, which according to Google Translate means Glasses! Glasses! 

I think “The Weakest And Strongest” and “Stella” are my favorites, but as I keep repeating the album I find something different to enjoy.

Signal Mix-taeps

Denver, Colorado’s Signal Path is back at it with a new 6 song Remix/mashup Mix Tape/ EP! This new one still has the duo’s same underlying “Denver” electronic sound but this time the’ve incorporated a pretty wide variety of song samples as well. If dreams had a sound

I’m really digging this Soft Lighting dude.

Loved the chill vibes he put out with his album earlier this year, as well as the very cool visuals that are usually included in his videos. He just made some more chill vibes and a cool video in the form of a cover of the Suicides’ tune “Dream Baby Dream.” He still has that grotto music vibe going on, but I think this one is more of a meditation track. I love the treatment he gives the cover with his full sounding synths and airy floating vocals. If dreams had a sound, this would be it.

Experimental group, Is and of The creates some powerfully subtle electronica.With the help of a few friends, Drew Bandos sets to create deeply reflective yet highly addicting music.

Full of warping electronic tones and light percussion that lets the sometimes almost indiscernible vocals take the reigns, Is and of The have the ability to take hold of your attention the second you press play.

Meet Breakbot, otherwise known as Thibaut Berland, a smooth French producer and DJ who’s doing his part to keep the disco/electro scene alive. I don’t know too much about him but one thing is clear, this man can enhance any track with his midas touch of a remix. With a Snoop and Dr. Dre headlining show, I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely insane at the closing of Coachella’s final weekend.

There wasn’t really any chance of predicting what Kanye was going to do last year, that man will do whatever the hell he wants. But, Snoop Dogg just put out this electro-dance mix and now I’m pretty thrown. And really fucking excited.

I’m kind of taken aback by Psittacines‘ (pronounced Sit-Uh-Signs) Summer Sounds EP.

It’s a fun-loving album that’s full of lush low ends and lots of tape hiss. Jason Pevey (the solo artist behind it all) describes the EP as:
